#Consciousness & AI: what the serious literature actually claims, and what is testable

Prepared for the Darlin brain-inspired agent project. Every claim below is cited to a source I actually retrieved. Where I could only get an abstract and not the full text, I say so. Section 7 lists what I could not verify. I have not invented any title, author, or identifier.

Method note: web_search was unavailable (no API key), as warned. All retrieval was via web_fetch against the arXiv API (https://export.arxiv.org/api/query), api.openalex.org, api.semanticscholar.org, the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, author websites, and journal pages. web_fetch cannot read PDFs ("unsupported content type application/pdf"), so for any paper whose full text exists only as a PDF and which has no HTML rendering (no ar5iv/arXiv-HTML), I have only the abstract. This constrains several important items and is flagged throughout.
